Department of Corrections (DC) is a governmental agency tasked with the responsibility of overseeing the incarceration of persons convicted of crimes within a particular jurisdiction. In the U.S., all 50 states have State Department of Corrections.
Each State DC aims to provide proper care and supervision of all offenders under their jurisdiction. It also aims to protect public safety, and the safety of DC personnels. Additionally, DC personnels help offenders in their reentry into the society.
