Depraved Indifference Murder Law and Legal Definition
Depraved indifference murder is defined as “distinct from, and requiring an element in addition to, the lesser included offense of reckless manslaughter. Depraved indifference murder is also required to be a significantly heightened recklessness, distinguishing it from manslaughter.” [Mannix v. Phillips, 2010 U.S. App. LEXIS 18110 (2d Cir. N.Y. Aug. 30, 2010)].
