Diminution of Sentence Law and Legal Definition
Diminution of sentence means reduction in sentence. Release on diminution of sentence is a conditional release from prison based on accumulation of good time credits. Certain legislations enable inmates to shorten time in prison by good acts while they are in prison. The prisoner will be released when his/her diminution of sentence date arrives. While on release s/he will be supervised by a parole officer as if on parole until his/her full term date.
