Direct Dispute [Banks & Banking] Law and Legal Definition
According to 12 CFR 222.41 [Title 12 -- Banks and Banking; Chapter II -- Federal Reserve System; Subchapter A -- Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System; Part 222 -- Fair Credit Reporting (Regulation V); Subpart E -- Duties of Furnishers of Information (Effective July 1, 2010.)], direct dispute means “a dispute submitted directly to a furnisher (including a furnisher that is a debt collector) by a consumer concerning the accuracy of any information contained in a consumer report and pertaining to an account or other relationship that the furnisher has or had with the consumer.”
