Director of the United States Patent and Trademark Office Law and Legal Definition
The director of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office is appointed by the president. The director is in charge of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Until 2000 reorganization, the chief of the Patent and Trademark Office was the Commissioner of Patents and Trademarks. The Director is also the Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property.
