Disaster Medical Assistance Team [DMAT] Law and Legal Definition
Disaster Medical Assistance Team (DMAT) means a voluntary group of medical and nonmedical individuals who has formed a response team under the guidance of the National Disaster Medical System. The group forming the DMAT is usually from the same state or region of a state. DMAT’s is composed of a mix of physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician’s assistants, pharmacists, emergency medical technicians, other allied health professionals, and support staff. Usually DMAT’s have thirty-five deployable personnel.
