Discernment Law and Legal Definition
Discernment means ability to distinguish or judge. It is the quality of being able to grasp and comprehend what is obscure. For instance, being of such an age that the law will impose ordinary legal responsibility upon the person.
In Christian tradition, the term is used to describe the process of discerning God's will for one's life. It describes the interior search for an answer to the question of one's vocation, namely, determining whether or not God is calling one to the married life, single life, or religious life.
