Discriminatory Harassment Law and Legal Definition
Discriminatory harassment refers to the verbal or physical conduct that denigrates or shows hostility toward an individual on the basis of race, color, gender, national origin, religion, age, physical or mental disability, and sexual orientation; or because of opposition to discrimination or participation in the discrimination complaint process.
Harassment is against the law when it creates an intimidating, hostile, or offensive working environment, or when it interferes with an individual’s work performance. In case of discriminatory harassment, the harasser can be a supervisor, co-worker, other Department employee, or a non-employee who has a business relationship with the Department
