Disinterested Witness Law and Legal Definition
One who has no interest in the cause or matter in issue, and who is lawfully competent to testify.
In the context of anatomical gift, "Disinterested witness" means a witness other than the spouse, domestic partner, child, parent, sibling, grandchild, grandparent, or guardian of the individual who makes, amends, revokes, or refuses to make an anatomical gift, or another adult who exhibited special care and concern for the individual. The term "disinterested witness" does not include a person to which an anatomical gift could pass. An individual is not disqualified from being a disinterested witness solely because the individual is employed by a transplant hospital.
