Disposal of Spent Nuclear Fuel Law and Legal Definition
Spent nuclear fuel is the nuclear fuel that is irradiated in a nuclear power plant when such a nuclear plant is no longer useful in sustaining a nuclear reaction. According to 42 USCS § 10142, any repository constructed on a site will be designed and constructed to permit the retrieval of any spent nuclear fuel placed in such repository for any reason mainly pertaining to the public health and safety, or the environment.
