Disposal Unit [Energy] Law and Legal Definition
According to 10 CFR 61.2 [Title 10 – Energy; Chapter I -- Nuclear Regulatory Commission; Part 61 -- Licensing Requirements for Land Disposal of Radioactive Waste; Subpart A -- General Provisions], the term disposal unit means “a discrete portion of the disposal site into which waste is placed for disposal. For near-surface disposal the unit is usually a trench.”
