Disseminator Law and Legal Definition
Disseminator is a person who gives information regarding:
(a) horse racing or other racing to an operator of a race book;or
(b) the business of accepting wagers upon the outcome of any event held at a track which uses the pari-mutuel system of wagering.
A person must hold a valid license to act as a disseminator. A disseminator may charge a fee for the information that is provided.
The following is an example for a state statute (Nevada) [Nev. Rev. Stat. Ann. § 463.0147] defining the term Disseminator :
"Disseminator" means any person who furnishes an operator of a race book, sports pool or gambling game who is licensed in this state with information relating to horse racing or other racing which is used to determine winners of or payoffs on wagers accepted by the operator. The term does not include a person who provides a televised broadcast without charge to any person who receives the broadcast.
