Divorce Agreement Law and Legal Definition
Divorce agreement is a contractual agreement and it states the rights of the divorcing spouses, their responsibilities regarding property, alimony, custody, visitation, and child support. The divorce agreement usually becomes incorporated by court order as a part of the divorce decree and therefore is enforceable by contempt, among other remedies. A divorce agreement is also termed as agreement incident to divorce, marital settlement agreement, or separation agreement.
