Doctors Commons Law and Legal Definition
Doctors’ Commons refers to the College of Advocates and Doctors of Law, which trained specialists in admiralty and ecclesiastical law. Doctor’s Commons also housed admiralty and ecclesiastical courts from the 16th century to the 19th. This is an informal usage. The College of Advocates and Doctors of Law was dissolved in the 1860s after its functions were absorbed by the High Court. This is also written as Doctors' Common.
