Doctrine of Contagion Law and Legal Definition
Doctrine of Contagion as used in International law refers to a holding that invasion and overthrowing of a government of a neighboring state is justified if that state engage in abhorrent practices or revolutions. This doctrine is not in force now and was used by the Holy Alliance in Europe to invade countries where revolutions were brewing.
