According to 50 USCS § 2741 [Title 50. War and National Defense; Chapter 42. Atomic Energy Defense Provisions; Budget and Financial Management Matters; Recurring National Security Authorization Provisions], the term DOE national security authorization means "an authorization of appropriations for activities of the Department of Energy in carrying out programs necessary for national security."
