Dum Casta Law and Legal Definition
Dum Casta is a Latin term which means “for so long as she remains chaste or lives chastely.” In early days, this clause was inserted in separation agreements, for freeing the husband from the terms of the agreement (e.g. maintenance obligations) if his wife commits adultery or it was added to signify that if a woman was to start another relationship, she forfeited her entitlement to maintenance.
