Dum Sola Law and Legal Definition
Dum Sola is a Latin word which means ‘while single’or ‘for so long as she remains unmarried.’ This phrase is applied to single women, to denote that something has been done, or may be done, while the woman is or was unmarried. It was used to limit conveyances made to women, as in dum sola fuerit (“while she remains single”), dum sola et casta vixerit (“while she remains single and chaste”), and dum sola et casta (“while she is unmarried and lives chastely”).
