Durante Absentia is a Latin term which means ‘during absence.’ It refers to the administration of an estate in the absence of an executor. The power to administer estates is granted by a court to a person known as administrator durante absentia. This method is usually applied where the executor is out the jurisdiction of the court or officer to whom the probate of wills belongs.
