Émigré is a French term. It refers to a person forced to emigrate from a country for political reasons. Émigré is a person who seeks political or social self exile from a nation. Normally, an émigré is forced to flee from ones native country because of political differences with the rule in the native land. A displaced person is also called an émigré.
