Employment-Based Retiree Health Coverage Law and Legal Definition
The term employment-based retiree health coverage refers to the health insurance or other health care coverage costs provided under a group health plan for part D eligible individuals or for such other individuals, their spouses, and dependents based on their status as retired participants in such a plan. Employment-based retiree health coverage, which is the leading source of supplemental coverage for medicare beneficiaries, can be provided by voluntary insurance coverage or pursuant to statutory or contractual obligation [42 USCS § 1395w-132 (1)(c)].
