End of the War Law and Legal Definition
According to 50 USCS Appx § 2 [Title 50. War and National Defense; Title 50 Appendix -- War and National Defense; Trading With the Enemy Act of 1917; Act Oct. 6, 1917, Ch 106, 40 Stat. 411], the words "end of the war shall be deemed to mean the date of proclamation of exchange of ratifications of the treaty of peace, unless the President shall, by proclamation, declare a prior date, in which case the date so proclaimed shall be deemed to be the "end of the war."
