Energy Compensation Source (ECS) Law and Legal Definition
According to 10 CFR 39.2 [Title 10 – Energy; Chapter I -- Nuclear Regulatory Commission; Part 39 -- Licenses and Radiation Safety Requirements for Well Logging; Subpart A -- General Provisions] the term Energy Compensation Source (ECS) means “a small sealed source, with an activity not exceeding 3.7 MBq [100 microcuries], used within a logging tool, or other tool components, to provide a reference standard to maintain the tool's calibration when in use.”
