Energy Use Avoidance Law and Legal Definition
According to 10 CFR 436.101 [Title 10 Energy; Chapter II Department of Energy; Subchapter D Energy Conservation; Part 436 Federal Energy Management and Planning Programs; Subpart F Guidelines for General Operations Plans], the term energy use avoidance means “the amount of energy resources, e.g., gasoline, not used because of initiatives related to conservation. It is the difference between the baseline without a plan and actual consumption.”
