Environmental Sampling [Energy] Law and Legal Definition
According to 10 CFR 75.4 [Title 10 – Energy; Chapter I -- Nuclear Regulatory Commission; Part 75 -- Safeguards on Nuclear Material -- Implementation of US/IAEA Agreement; General Provisions], the term Environmental Sampling (with respect to IAEA [International Atomic Energy Agency] Safeguards) means “the collection of environmental samples (e.g., air, water, vegetation, soil, or smears from surfaces) at a location specified by the IAEA for the purpose of assisting the IAEA to draw a conclusion about the absence of undeclared nuclear material or nuclear activities.”
