Escrow Agent [Education] Law and Legal Definition
According to 34 CFR 682.200 (b) [Title 34 – Education; Subtitle B -- Regulations of the Offices of the Department of Education; Chapter VI -- Office of Postsecondary Education, Department of Education; Part 682 -- Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) Program; Subpart B -- General Provisions], the term escrow agent means “any guaranty agency or other eligible lender that receives the proceeds of a FFEL program loan as an agent of an eligible lender for the purpose of transmitting those proceeds to the borrower or the borrower's school.”
