Essential Job Function Law and Legal Definition
Essential job function is normally an important duty among various duties of a single job. There may be more than one essential job function. All other duties as part of the job are only secondary. An employee must be able to perform all essential job functions. A person with disability must be able to perform all essential job functions with or without a reasonable accommodation in order to be covered under the federal Americans with Disabilities Act.
