Exercitor Law and Legal Definition
Exercitor is a term of civil law. It refers to the master of a ship or the person who has the immediate care and management of the vessel. The absolute owner of the ship or even a mere agent of the ship can be an exercitor. If the exercitor is only an agent of the ship then s/he can bind the owner of the ship by any obligation that s/he had undertaken as the master of the ship. An exercitor has got a right to ship’s profit.
In England, exercitor is also termed ship’s husband.
