Explosive Equivalent [Aeronautics and Space] Law and Legal Definition
According to 14 CFR 420.5 [Title 14 Aeronautics and Space; Chapter III Commercial Space Transportation, Federal Aviation Administration, Department of Transportation (Parts 400 to 499); Subchapter C Licensing; Part 420 License to Operate a Launch Site; Subpart A General], Explosive Equivalent means “a measure of the blast effects from explosion of a given quantity of material expressed in terms of the weight of trinitrotoluene (TNT) that would produce the same blast effects when detonated.”
