Fact Finder Law and Legal Definition
Fact–finder refers to one or more persons who hear testimony and review evidence to rule on a factual issue. In a jury trial the fact finder is the jury. In a non-jury trial or bench trial the judge sits both as a fact-finder and as the trier of law. In administrative proceedings it may be a hearing officer or a hearing body. The terms trier of fact, fact trier, finder of fact all denotes the same function.
