Family Assistance Order Law and Legal Definition
Family assistance order means a court order issued under the Children Act 1989 directing the probation officer, or an officer of a local authority to advise, assist, and befriend a particular child or a person closely connected with the child. Family assistance order is issued to provide short‐term support for the family. The order can only be made with the consent of the person with respect to whom the order is issued. A family assistance order is valid for a period of six months.
