Family Entertainment and Copyright Act Law and Legal Definition
The Family Entertainment and Copyright Act (“Act”) of 2005 provides civil and criminal immunity to owners and employees of theaters, for questioning suspected violators or detaining them while police is summoned. This Act consists of two parts:
Part 1 The Artist's Rights and Theft Prevention Act of 2005- this part increases the penalty for copyright infringement; and
Part 2 The Family Home Movie Act of 2005- this part does not permit one to create a new hardcopy of a movie in a completely sanitized format.
