Federal Crimes Law and Legal Definition
Federal crime means those acts that are made criminal or illegal by federal law and prosecuted in federal courts. For instance, kidnapping is a federal crime. Most federal crimes are listed in Title 18 of the United States Code, but some fall under other title. For example, tax evasion is made a federal crime under Title 26 of the United States Code. It is also called as federal offense. The power to investigate federal crime is granted to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
