Federal Land Policy and Management Act of 1976 Law and Legal Definition
Federal Land Policy and Management Act of 1976 (FLPMA) provides for protection of the scenic, scientific, historic and ecologic values of federal lands and for public involvement in their management. In the FLPMA, Congress recognized the value of the public lands, declaring that these lands will remain publicly owned.
