Federal Prison Law and Legal Definition
Federal prisons are prisons which are managed and run by the U.S. federal government. On the other hand, state prisons are prisons managed by the state, county or local authorities. The Federal Bureau of Prisons is responsible for the centralized administration of federal prisons. Federal prison inmates are people who have been convicted for violation of a federal law.
