Federal Transit Administration [FTA] Law and Legal Definition
The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) is an administration within the department of transportation (DOT). The FTA is one of ten modal administrations within the DOT. It is headed by an Administrator who is appointed by the President of the United States. FTA provides financial and technical assistance to local public transit systems. FTA provides formula for the planning, construction, and operating public transportation system within United States.
