Felony Domestic Violence Law and Legal Definition
Felony domestic violence is based on the decision the prosecutor makes when charging the defendant. Felony as opposed to misdemeanor charges may be brought, for example, when there is sexual violence or repeat offenses involved. The degree of violence in each case will affect the charges. Choking someone unconscious may be charged as a felony, especially if there are prior offenses.
