Femme Sole Law and Legal Definition
Femme Sole refers to an unmarried woman, never married, widowed, or divorced. A married woman who is independent of her husband with respect to property is also called a femme sole.
A married woman becomes a femme sole trader under certain conditions. The conditions are that:
(1)she and her husband are shown to have lived separate and apart for more than one year;
(2)marital relations between them have ceased;
(3)the husband has not supported or contributed to the support of his wife; and
