Field Operations Directorate Law and Legal Definition
The Field Operations Directorate is an office within the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) that ensures the integrity of the immigration system and lend assistance to applicants, petitioners, and beneficiaries through the field offices and National Benefits Center.
The functions of the Field Operations Directorate include:
a. to provide management and oversight to the diverse operations of the National Benefits Center, and the domestic regional, district, field, and field support offices;
b. to adjudicate applications and petitions for immigration benefits;
c. to interview applicants for immigration benefits;
d. to conduct naturalization ceremonies nationwide;
e. to complete required security and background security checks for pending applications and petitions; and
f. to provide immigration information and outreach
