According to 33 USCS § 1122 (Title 33, Navigation And Navigable Waters; Chapter 22, Sea Grant Colleges And Marine Science Development; National Sea Grant College Program), the term "field related to ocean, coastal, and Great Lakes resources" means “any discipline or field, including marine affairs, resource management, technology, education, or science, which is concerned with or likely to improve the understanding, assessment, development, management, utilization, or conservation of ocean, coastal, or Great Lakes resources.”
