Fire Prevention and Control Law and Legal Definition
Fire prevention and control is a federal statute enacted in 1974. The Act provides for the reduction of the nation's losses caused by fire through better fire prevention and control. The Act also supplements existing programs of research, training, and education, and to encourage new and improved programs and activities by State and local governments.
The Act establishes an intensified program of research into the treatment of burn and smoke injuries and the rehabilitation of victims of fires within the National Institutes of Health.
According to 15 USCS § 2206, Fire Prevention and Control Act states that training fire service personnel skills and knowledge as may be useful to advance their ability to prevent and control fires, including, but not limited to:1.techniques of fire prevention, fire inspection, firefighting, and fire and arson investigation;
2.tactics and command of firefighting for present and future fire chiefs and commanders;
3.administration and management of fire services;
4.tactical training in the specialized field of aircraft fire control and crash rescue;
5. tactical training in the specialized field of fire control and rescue aboard waterborne vessels.****
