Food Quality Protection Act of 1996 (FQPA ) is designed to ensure that levels of pesticide residues in food meet strict standards for public health protection. Under this law, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is required to better protect infants and children from pesticides in food and water and from indoor exposure to pesticides. The FQPA amended the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) and the Federal Food Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FFDCA) by changing the EPA regulations regarding pesticides.
