Foreign Affidavit Law and Legal Definition
Foreign affidavit is an affidavit involving a matter of concern in one state but taken in another state or country before an officer of that state or country. In addition to the ordinary attestation with the seal of the notary or other officer, a foreign affidavit must be accompanied by a certificate of the county clerk or other proper officer of the foreign state, under his hand and official seal, stating that the officer before whom the affidavit was taken is duly commissioned and authorized by the statutes of his state to administer oaths.
