Foreign Immunity Law and Legal Definition
Foreign immunity refers to an immunity of a foreign sovereign. Foreign immunity is also granted to diplomatic agents and its instrumentalities from litigation in the U.S. courts. Foreign immunity is governed by the Foreign Immunities Act of 1976. The Foreign Immunities Act of 1976, specifically prohibits the sovereign immunity of foreign states involved in commercial activity within the U.S.
