Forensic Anthropology Law and Legal Definition
Forensic anthropology refers to the application of the science of biological anthropology to the legal process. Persons specialized in forensic anthropology assist medical and legal specialists to identify known or suspected human remains.
The science of forensic anthropology includes:
a. archeological excavation;
b. examination of hair, insects, plant materials, and footprints;
c. determination of elapsed time since death;
d. facial reproduction;
e. photographic superimposition;
f. detection of anatomical variants; and
g. analysis of past injury and medical treatment.
