Forensic Expert Law and Legal Definition
The term ‘forensic expert’ is used to refer an expert witness who testifies or gives forensic related opinions at a dispute resolution trial or hearing by virtue of his/her specialized knowledge. Forensic opinions are sought from forensic experts to explain past, present, and future events. An expert opinion is distinct from a lay man’s opinion because of the scientific, technical, specialized training, or experience that an expert possesses. An expert is allowed by law to give opinions in law related settings rather than merely recite facts gained from senses.
