Former Jeopardy Law and Legal Definition
Former jeopardy means that a man cannot be tried for an offence more than once. This principle that prohibits a person being tried twice for the same offence is guaranteed as a constitutional right to the citizens of the U.S. This principle is commonly known as Double jeopardy. The Constitution of the U.S. guarantees the right against former jeopardy under the Fifth Amendment to the constitution.
