Former Spouse Law and Legal Definition
Former spouse is defined as “a former spouse of an individual--
(A) if such individual performed at least 18 months of civilian service covered under this subchapter [5 USCS §§ 8331 et seq.] as an employee or Member, and
(B) if the former spouse was married to such individual for at least 9 months.” (5 USCS § 8331)
