Foster Home Law and Legal Definition
A home in which a child or children are raised by people other than their natural or adoptive parents is a foster home. Pursuant to ORC Ann. 5103.02, foster home is a household where an orphaned or delinquent child is kept. It is a private residence in which children are received apart from their parents, guardian, or legal custodian by an individual. Such person is reimbursed for providing the children non secure care, supervision, or training twenty-four hours a day. However a foster home does not include care provided for a child in the home of a person other than the child's parent, guardian, or legal custodian while the parent, guardian, or legal custodian is temporarily away.
