Frank Tenement Law and Legal Definition
Frank Tenement is a type of tenement which existed under feudal law. It is a free tenement or a freehold. Frank tenant refers to a freeholder. In U.S, the sole surviving form, is that species of frank-tenement known to the feudalists as free socage wherein the service to be performed is known and fixed, and not of a base or servile nature. In free socage the "lord of the fee" is the State itself, and the service due to the “lord" is payment of the taxes upon the real estate.
